Supports and Services
The Department of Psychiatry’s Research office includes three members. Firstly, Tasha (Natasha) Good (Natasha.Good@sjhc.london.on.ca) is the Administrative Assistant who supports the Director of Research. Tasha coordinates meetings, plans research events, assists with the department’s Seed Fund Competition, and provides weekly updates to ensure all faculty are informed of research funding opportunities, training, publications, and awards.
Secondly, Julie Walsh is a Research Associate whose role is to help clinical faculty members develop, facilitate, support and translate their faculty-led research initiatives. Julie can assist faulty members with developing proposals, completing ethics applications, building research skills, facilitating collaborations, and planning knowledge translation activities. Lastly, Dr. Arlene MacDougall (arlene.macdougall@sjhc.london.on.ca) is the Director of Research for the Department of Psychiatry. This is a leadership role centered on spearheading strategic research initiatives aligned with departmental goals. This entails driving interdisciplinary collaborations, supporting faculty in securing research funding, ensuring ethical standards, and overseeing research communication to the department. Dr. MacDougall also chairs the Research Committee, which oversees the department’s Seed Fund Competition and selection of the Faculty Research Award. In addition, Dr. MacDougall supports faculty recruitment, leads the longitudinal research course for psychiatry residents, provides research mentorship to faculty and trainees, and organizes an annual research conference.
